 Projects

1-4

Projects 1-4 will be located around Springwood Park and will use materials (mostly honeysuckle) from around each designated entrance. The sculptures will act as trail markers for the beginning and endings of the trails. They help guide the hiker while adding a small experience to their woodland trip.

Project 1

Honeysuckle Arches

Project 1 (boma 1) will be created from surrounding invasive honeysuckle. Boma Woodlands & Richmond Parks have scouted the trail along the SW entrance to the Chapel Drive Trail and found a large abundance of honeysuckle.

Project 2

Honeysuckle Noodle Arches

Project 2 (boma 2) will be on a slight hill and a curve that the trail follows through. There is a great source of honeysuckle to harvest all along the park boundaries and the Cardinal Greenway trail. Permission from the Cardinal Greenway overseers may be ask once significant honeysuckle is harvested. With their permission, having a truck to haul materials will really speed up the process.

Project 3

Honeysuckle Shell

Project 3 (boma 3) is going to be a very large shell that opens up on the crest of a hill to a sprawling meadow and chapel. There is a great surplus of honeysuckle in this area, taking over much of the forest surrounding the meadow borders. The shell shape will be on the crest of a hill, which then leads into the forest.

Project 4

Honeysuckle
Fading fence

Project 4 (boma 4) will be a fence on either side of the trail. The fence height will be roughly shoulder height at the entrance and slowly get lower as it ventures deeper into the woods. This area is completely overgrown with honeysuckle. There are many old growth honeysuckle trees, which will also be helpful for Project 3.
